The Friends of the Slade exists to raise money to support the activities of the School and enhance the student learning experience, and enables people to be involved in the Slade community by attending events and keeping up to date with what is going on. Income from Membership fees and particularly from Donations currently funds several Scholarships, Bursaries and Competitions, an annual programme of Visiting Artists and the Project Awards Fund. Income from Friends also contributes towards the provision of models, part-time teaching, various publications and exhibitions.
Friends of the Slade are invited to the Degree Shows in the summer and the MA/MFA Interim Show in October, as well as the programme of exhibitions held throughout the year at the UCL Art Museum. They also receive an invitation to the regular William Townsend Memorial Lecture, a free copy of Slade publications including the Friends Newsletter and an invitation to the December Open Studios and Friends Christmas Drinks. Annual membership is £35. Download an application form and join the Friends of the Slade.
Donations are particularly important and there are lots of different ways to give, including several which will make your gift tax-efficient and you can find further details of these on the UCL website. If you would like to make a donation to the Slade online, you can do so using the online giving page.
THE PATRICK GEORGE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
In honour of artist and former Slade Professor Patrick George (1924- 2016), the Slade would like to introduce a scholarship fund in his name.
The aim of the scholarship fund is to enable a Graduate student to take up their place at the Slade regardless of financial circumstance by contributing towards tuition fees.
If you would like to donate to the fund and support our aim of continuing to enable the very best students, on merit, to be able to take up their places at the Slade, please download the form and return to:
